Sometimes there’s not that much space to work with. Not everyone has a large footprint available to them. More often, people find themselves at a loss to make a small space feel relaxing or even just make sense. They want it to be a place to unwind after a long day of work without becoming cluttered or inefficient. My homeowners in Pleasant Valley downsized from a larger home and found themselves with a small common bath. One bath is enough for them but it wasn’t updated. Nor was it a space they were proud to offer for guest use.

They had older acrylic walls. The placement of a register was odd. They felt it was time to make their one and only bath make better sense. The homeowners knew that there wasn’t space to steal from anywhere. Yet, even in a small footprint, if you’re creative – there can be things that just make better sense.

My first thought was to come up with a way to get the register out of the shower. This seemed necessary for many reasons and meant some creative maneuvering. We ended up moving the shower to the right and building a small linen closet to the left. This moved the duct work above the closet door and seemed simple to move the plumbing to the interior wall.

The homeowners wanted to remove the tub and put in a shower. They were not keen on tile because they wanted something easy to clean. They ended up with a solid surface wall kit that reduces maintenance and still feel luxurious.

The great thing about the DBS Remodel team is their adaptability. When we are at a site and a better solution occurs to us, we’re excited to implement it.

The lead carpenter on this job had an insight. He realized that the duct could be moved into a toe-kick at the vanity area.

This decision allowed for more storage at the closet.

In a small space, these decisions can become the difference between liking the remodel and loving it.

My clients love the new space and were so happy to have a space that they feel reflects their style.

The relocation of the toe-kick heater provides an added bonus. It warms the floor tile. This takes out the chill on the colder days! Win-win on all fronts!
